What a bike costs per month in Bangladesh: EMI worked out on ten bikes from Tk 86,500 to Tk 6,01,000
2026-09-20
A showroom quotes a bike two ways: the price on the wall and the instalment on the finance desk, and the second one decides more purchases than the first. This guide runs the same arithmetic Bikevai's EMI calculator uses on ten bikes across the price ladder, from the Yadea Mia at Tk 86,500 to the Yamaha R15 V4 at Tk 6,01,000, so the monthly figure can be judged before the visit. The ten are chosen for their price points, one per step, not as a ranking — each is on sale with a price checked in 2026.
How the instalment is worked out
The formula is the standard reducing-balance EMI that banks and NBFIs quote: the loan is the showroom price less the down payment, interest is charged each month on what is still owed, and the instalment is fixed so the loan clears at the end of the tenure. The table assumes what a buyer is usually quoted — 20% down and 12% a year — over 12, 24 and 36 months. Registration, insurance and the lender's processing fee are not in it, and the showroom's paper decides; the calculator on every priced bike page lets all three inputs be changed.

Reading the table
Doubling the tenure does not halve the instalment: on the Yamaha FZS V3 ABS the 12-month figure is Tk 18,374, the 24-month Tk 9,735 and the 36-month Tk 6,869, because each extra year adds interest on a balance that is falling more slowly. The interest column is the price of that time — Tk 26,835 over two years on that bike's Tk 2,06,800 loan, about 13% of it.
Showrooms often run 0% card-EMI offers with the bank issuing the card. At 0% the instalment is simply the loan divided by the months — Tk 8,617 a month over 24 for the same Yamaha FZS V3 ABS — and the difference from the 12% figure, Tk 1,118 a month, is what the offer is worth. Ask whether the offer is on the full price or after a larger down payment.
What is not in the instalment
BRTA's registration is paid separately and up front: on the published schedule a bike above 100 cc costs Tk 8,840 with two years of road tax or Tk 18,040 with ten, and a bike of 100 cc or under — or an electric scooter with a motor of 5 kW or less, like the Yadea Mia — Tk 6,690 or Tk 11,290, before VAT and bank charges. Insurance and the lender's processing fee are the other two lines on the finance desk's sheet. Each bike page on Bikevai carries an on-road price calculator with the BRTA figures next to the EMI calculator.
Prices are the showroom (official) figures on each bike's Bikevai page in September 2026, with the date of the last check shown there. Instalments are estimates from the formula above at 20% down and 12% a year, rounded to the taka; a lender's own rate, fees and rounding will differ.
